Currently, the 3ds Max 2018 built-in Scene Converter module does not have a preset to convert Chaos Group VRay materials to Arnold, although it's a much-requested feature. Solution:
The 3rd-party Universal Material Converter can convert VRay materials to the Autodesk Physical material type, which can then be rendered in Arnold. This material isn't completely feature-equivalent to Arnold's Standard Surface shaders, but this may help transition existing VRay-based scene assets until either Autodesk or a 3rd party developer releases a direct VRay Material to Arnold Standard Surface conversion tool.
